Job purpose: The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government has opportunities for three (3) individuals to manage staff (terrain and cleaning) at the various Facilities. These posts are based at ROAR, Lindelani and Vredelus.

Requirements: A Grade 10 (Junior Certificate or equivalent qualification) • A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience

Key performance areas: Supervise subordinates • Responsible for the general maintenance and repairs of buildings, water pipes and systems, machinery, implements, sewerage systems, furniture, equipment and electrical wiring and installation • Maintenance of gardens and grounds • Cleaning of the grounds and offices • Ensure refuse removal • Exercise control over tools, supplies and other equipment • Assist with all maintenance projects at facility when necessary • Ensure record keeping of all work done.

Competencies: A good understanding of the following: Repairs • Plumbing • Welding • Basic safety precautions in handling hazardous material liquids • Use of cleaning equipment • Maintenance/care of cleaning equipment • Communication skills • Basic literacy skills • Ability to work in garden and handle equipment.
