Key Performance Areas
The role of the Division for Postgraduate Studies is to support the University’s Institutional Operational Plan which affords challenging deliverables in relation to the goal of growing our postgraduate numbers and promoting excellence in postgraduate education at the University of the Western Cape. Furthermore, it offers a range of academic support services to the UWC postgraduate community.

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced person to take up the role of Academic Co-ordinator that is currently available at the Division for Postgraduate Studies. An Academic Coordinator performs the following functions amongst others:

Design and present research capacity development programmes to postgraduate students, support and academic staff.
Perform administrative duties such as the drafting of reports, monitoring of workshop evaluations.
Management of the writing support to postgraduate students
Minimum Requirements
A minimum Master’s degree in a related field and proof of having conducted other research
Experience with training, teaching and research
Proven experience in Higher education with an emphasis on working with students to achieve academic success
Have a publication record (comprising peer-reviewed and/or accredited journals, books or book chapters on reputable presses)

A PhD qualification/ being Registered or in a process to complete a PhD
Minimum of two years of management experience with a proven track record of leadership and people skills

Proven management skills
Ability to handle multiple projects
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication
Organizational skills
Student-orientated attitude
Public speaking with good presentation skills
