The Department of Transport and Public Works, Western Cape Government seeks to employ and a competent and qualified individual to support the office of the District Road Engineer by coordinating and administration of all aspects relating to Human Resource Management and other support services and ensuring legislative compliance. The successful incumbent must have supervisory and problem-solving skills. This post is based in Oudtshoorn.
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree); A minimum of 3 years’ administrative experience in Human Resource Management or similar environment; A valid driving licence.
Appropriate supervisory experience.
Key Performance Areas:
Ensure: Adherence and correct application to all transversal personnel practices, policies and procedure as well as effective and efficient labour relations management within the region; Act as employer representative at hearings and meetings; Render support and advisory service with regards to human resource management and monitor compliance to policies thereof; Coordinate and manage development and career advancement activities for the region as well as HR administration activities including recruitment and selection, terminations, IODs (Injury On Duty), Allowances and deductions, housing, performance management, leave, archives and labour relations experience; Supervise and ensure development of subordinates.
Sound practical knowledge of PERSAL; Ability to interpret policies and procedure manuals; Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two of the three official languages of Western Cape; Proven computer literacy; Report writing skills; Conflict and diversity management.
R 299 709 per annum (Salary Level 8)
Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
