The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government seeks to employ a competent individual to conduct and supervise internal audits at engagement level in compliance with the approved internal audit methodology, evaluating the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of governance, risk management and control. This post is stationed in Cape Town.
An appropriate 3-year tertiary qualification (National Diploma/B-Degree) majoring in Accounting and Auditing; A minimum of 3 years relevant experience; A valid Code B driving licence.
Studying towards or having a professional certification.
Key Performance Areas:
Ensuring information obtained is relevant and reliable and logical conclusions are drawn in each step of the prelim survey; Adequately motivated engagement objectives, based on the correct analysis of the control objectives, cognisant of the risk demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of how risks ought to be mitigated; Providing comprehensive and accurate systems description; Providing an appropriate extracted sample based on effective analysis of population and elements or control; Ensuring test procedures are developed in line with engagement objective requirements and key control design; Ensuring working papers are complete and accurate accompanied by useful, relevant, sufficient and reliable evidence delivered and coaching noted are signed off; Ensuring the elements of audit findings are appropriately aligned including adequate evaluation.
Knowledge of the following: Information Gathering; Interactive Communication; Analytical thinking; Client Focus; International Standards and Professional Practice of Internal Auditing(Standards).Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
R 356,289 per annum (Salary level 9)
Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
