Job Purpose

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government seeks is to employ a suitably qualified and competent individual to support the capacity building of municipalities, building of partnerships that promotes alignment and spatial economic growth initiatives. This post is based in Cape Town.

Minimum Requirements
An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant administrative experience; A valid code B driving licence.

Experience in monitoring and evaluation; Experience in economic analysis.
Key Performance Areas Support the capacity building of municipalities in regions; Support the building of partnerships, IGR, cross-cutting and areas-specific-initiatives that promotes alignment of economic activities in regions; Support the implementation of spatial economic growth initiatives in regions; Support the building of business partnerships for growth opportunities across regions.

Knowledge of the following: Economic development; Development Economics; Applicable legislative and regulatory requirements, policies and standards; Project Management; Stakeholder Relationship Management; Problem solving and decision making; Research skills; Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two the three official languages of the Western Cape; Proven Computer Literacy; Planning and organising skills; Interpersonal skills.

Remuneration R 356 289 per annum (Salary level 9)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
