ASSISTANT FARM MANAGER

Reporting to the Farm Manager you will possess a farm owner mind-set in the execution of your duties and will be responsible for: • the effective management of farm and vineyard activities • the effective management of
employees • the effective planning and utilisation of seasonal contractors • the effective management of all related administration • the maintenance of all farm buildings, vehicles and equipment • assisting the Farm Manager with the budget • training of employees • maintaining sound employee relations and discipline.
To be brilliant in this role, you must be action orientated and preferably have: • a relevant tertiary qualification (degree in Viticulture/Oenology/Soil Science or Elsenburg diploma) • at least 5 years’ relevant experience in a
similar role • knowledge of soil management, pest and weed management, canopy management, and grape harvesting and handling • a valid driver’s licence • the ability to work extended hours and on weekends as and/or
when required • good mechanical knowledge of vehicles, tractors, farming equipment, etc. of a successful vineyard farming operation • management experience • team player qualities with strong relationship building abilities.
Computer literacy in MS Office suite with SAP/Fraxion knowledge will be advantageous as well as knowledge of cattle farming and Donkerhoek Data time and attendance/wages software.
