Great Kei Municipality

Great Kei Municipality invites one (1) suitable qualified professional with experience in the area of Performance Audits, Legal Environment and Financial Accounting to serve as an Audit Committee Member as required in terms of Section 166 of Local Government Municipal Finance Management Act (Act 56 of 2003) and Section 14 (4) (a) (i) to (iii) of the Municipal Planning and Performance Management Regulations of 2001 of the Municipal Systems Act (Act 32 of 2000).

AUDIT COMMITTEE MEMBER X1

Summary of requirements: • Bachelor’s Degree/Post graduate qualification in Accounting or Internal Auditing or Public Management or Public Administration or Law • Five (5) years’ managerial experience in Municipal Finance • Proven experience in the field of Internal Auditing and Risk Management • An understanding of Service Delivery priorities • Good Governance and/or Financial management experience • Understanding of the role of Internal and External Auditors • A practical understanding of the operations of the Municipality • An understanding of major accounting practices and public sector reporting requirements • Experience in serving on a Local Government Audit Committee would be an added advantage.

Summary of responsibilities: • Advise the Municipal Council in terms of Section 166 of the Municipal Finance Management Act (Act 56 of 2003) and Section 14(4) (a) (i) to (iii) of the Municipal Planning and Performance Management Regulations of 2001 of the Municipal Systems Act (Act 32 of 2000).

Remuneration: • Members will be remunerated according to the tariffs approved by National Treasury • The term of office shall be for a period of three (3) years’.
