BUILDING INSPECTOR
Remuneration: R253 780.70 p.a.
Minimum requirements: • Matric with tertiary level education in any of
the building disciplines (architecture, building science, building management or
building surveying) • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Municipal Building
Inspector is required • Must be able to read building plans • Must be fluent in
iSiZulu and English • Possession of a Code 08 driver’s licence is mandatory
• Significant knowledge of the National Building Regulations and Building
Standards Act 103 of 1977 will be given preference.
Key performance areas: Reporting to the Manager: Town Planning, the
successful candidate will: • undertake all necessary building inspections in terms
of the NBR deal with unauthorized building operations within the jurisdiction
of the Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma Municipality • report on progress of work
on approved building sites • liaise with the public regarding inspections and
standard required on site • assist with the control of building plan files and
filling of associated documentation • compile monthly reports for the Manager:
Town Planning • attend to public counter queries as and when required and
being classified as a law enforcement officer • oversee the plan submission
process and issuing of occupation certificates.
