The Department of Social Development, Western Cape Government aims to employ a suitably qualified and competent individual to supervise child and youth care workers to ensure the care and development of resident(s) within a facility to enhance their well-being. These positions are based in various locations in the Western Cape.
Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification) with a minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience in Child and Youth Care Work after obtaining the required qualification; A valid Code B driving licence.
Registration as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner with SACSSP.
Key Performance Areas:
Facilitate and supervise the caring for and life space interventions of incidents; Build a positive relationship with residents; Create a caring and stimulating environment for residents; Monitor the implementation of the daily structured programmes; Form part of a multi-disciplinary team; Ensure that the recommended developmental and recreational programmes are implemented by providing continuous support, guidance and advice to subordinates; Monitor and participate in the evaluation of the recommended developmental and recreational programmes; Ensure reporting on progress with developmental and recreational programmes; Participate in the identification of incidents; Monitor the implementation of the daily structured programmes; Supervise and perform clerical/administration functions.
Knowledge of the following: Child Care Act, policies, legislation, Batho Pele Principles and administrative procedures; New developments and methodologies in Child and Youth Care Work; Proven computer literacy in MS Office; Basic research and analytical skills; Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.
Grade 1: R 187 560 – R 211 101 per annum (OSD as prescribed)
Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
