Job Purpose

The Department of Human Settlements, Western Cape Government seeks to employ a suitably qualified and competent individual to optimise Communication, Marketing and Public Relations activities within Human Settlements and Stakeholder Relations. This position is based in Cape Town.
Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3-year National Diploma/B-Degree in Communication, Public Relations or Journalism; A minimum of 3-years appropriate experience in a communication working environment.

A valid code B driving licence.

Key Performance Areas

Research, planning and implementation of internal communication support within the Department; Research, planning and implementation of external communication support within the Department; Provide support for the Department’s media management and services; Planning and administration.

Knowledge of the following: Relevant communication legislation, prescripts, policies, guidelines, codes, norms and standards, best practices and procedures; Departmental Communications Service Level Agreement with the Department of the Premier (CSC); Departmental media liaison and public relations services; Departmental communication plans; Communication (written and verbal) skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape; Proven computer literacy skills in MS Office, Internet, Intranet, Adobe Suite (i.e. Basic InDesign); Project management and administration skills.

R 299 709 per annum plus 37% in lieu of benefits (Salary level 8)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
