Harry Gwala Development Agency (Pty) Ltd (HGDA)


The Harry Gwala Development Agency (Pty) Ltd (HGDA) calls for applications for the following position to be engaged on a five (5) year contract.


Total remuneration package: R486 639.36 p.a. (all-inclusive CTC)

Job requirements: • A Grade 12/Matric • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Financial Management • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in a Municipality or Municipal entity in the responsive financial environment with sound knowledge of MSCOA, budgeting, GRAP, and financial systems like Sage Evolution, etc. • Computer literacy • Driver’s licence essential • Ability to work outside normal working hours and travel as required • Ability to always deal with urgent and highly confidential matters and pay attention to detail.

Roles and responsibilities: • Budget preparation and budget variance analysis • Responsible for national treasury portal reporting • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual statements • Prepare mandatory periodical reporting in response to legislative prescripts and treasury regulations • Preparing monthly cash flow statements including forecasting and controlling expenditure and cash flow • Prepare month and year-end accounts and statutory accounts including closure processes • Timeously respond to financial enquiries by gathering and interpreting data • Preparation of GRAP Compliant Fixed Asset Register • Revenue/Accounts Receivables • Debt Management and Credit Control • Handle internal and external audits • Prepare and reviewing accounting policies and standard operating procedures • Train and mentor junior staff.
