Full Professor/ Associate Professor: Soil Science (One post)
Qualification and requirements:
• PhD in the field of Soil Science (Soil Chemistry and mineralogy). • At least more than ten (10) years for Full Professor or more than five (5) years for Associate Professor relevant research, and teaching experience at a tertiary institution(s). • Evidence of postgraduate supervision, at least 10 research publications in DHETaccredited journals, • Ability to successfully obtain research funding and involvement in community outreach. • Ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to: • Teach soil chemistry, mineralogy and fertility modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. • Mentor, advice, supervise undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and junior staff with regard to research activities, laboratory practice and/or academic projects. • Develop research niche/s for soil chemistry, soil mineralogy and soil fertility in the department and fundable research proposals for student training and support. • Sustain research publication in accredited journals. • Engage in community outreach programmes and/or on-farm research and departmental administration. • Perform any other duties/responsibilities that may be assigned by the Head of Department.
