Western Cape Gambling Board
The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board is a statutory body established with the main purpose to regulate and monitor the gambling and horse racing industry in the Western Cape. The Board invites applications for the following vacant post:
The purpose of this position is to: Provide day-to-day systems administration of the development, production and network systems, desktops and mobile platforms • Contribute to designing, planning and implementing the Board’s system and network infrastructure expansion, including web-server, capacity expansion, backup and disaster recovery, systems and network security, and high availability solutions • The facilitation and provision of software and hardware training to all employees as and when required.
The duties attached to this position include: • Setup and daily support of production, development, administrative systems, desktop and mobile support of users • Daily administration, monitoring, troubleshooting and maintenance of all production servers, internet, email and print services, network, desktops, notebooks and internal infrastructure systems • Regular support, monitoring and maintenance of internal network and perimeter security i.e. router, firewall, server and desktop security • Investigate, review and recommend the purchase of hardware, software, business application updates and related equipment and peripherals • Liaise with hardware and software vendors and support services • Plan, implement and maintain system backup and disaster recovery procedures and facilities • Provide user training and act as technology advisor on IT related products • Analyse and resolve vulnerability issues as well as be responsible for auditing systems, implementing logical security, protection of data and security standards • Provision of hardware and software support services to the Board’s employees • Infrastructure reporting for the IT quarterly and yearly reports • Documentation of processes and procedures.
The Board is looking for a hardworking, independent person with drive, initiative and attention to detail who will be able to function effectively with people on all levels. In order to be successful, this candidate should have good interpersonal, creative thinking, problem-solving and writing skills, and be fluent in English. This person will work with confidential information and must, therefore, be of high integrity. The successful candidate must be prepared to be subjected to periodic external probity investigations.
Minimum skills/requirements: • Grade 12, diploma/degree in IT with a minimum of 3 years’ IT experience. A good working knowledge of the following: • MCSE, MCITP knowledge advantageous • VMWare ESX V6 Server knowledge advantageous • CommVault • Windows 2012 server environment, 2016 advantageous • Linux knowledge • Exchange server knowledge, Lotus Notes knowledge advantageous • SQL server knowledge advantageous • Sophos knowledge advantageous • ITIL/COBIT knowledge advantageous • Industry knowledge of the utilisation, operation, and care of computer and related electronic equipment •Knowledge of the general principles of computer systems operation.

The Board o ers a total cost-to-company remuneration package of R398 446,20 per annum.
