LEGAL ADVISOR/SENIOR/PRINCIPAL

Principal Legal Advisor

Requirements:

• A relevant Law degree with admission as an Attorney or Advocate (passed bar exam)
• Minimum five (5) years’ proven post-admission experience in a senior position and legal environment
• Proven drafting experience
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
• Understanding of legislation and case law relating to Constitutional and Administrative Law, Interpretation of Statutes and other areas of the South African law applicable to the public sector
• Comprehensive knowledge of Council’s functions and systems and corporate governance principles
• The incumbent may be expected to work overtime and under pressure and must be available in cases of emergencies
• Managing staff of subcomponent and related administration processes
• Directing and managing quality of work delivered by staff
• Computer literacy (Microsoft office)
• Valid Code EB driver’s licence.

Senior Legal Advisor

Requirements:

• LLB
• Admitted attorney or advocate [passed bar exam]
• At least two (2) years’ minimum post-admission experience in a senior position and relevant legal environment
• Understanding of local government legislation, policies and procedures
• Valid Code EB driver’s licence
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
• Ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks, with minimum supervision
• Ability to diligently work on high volumes of work under considerable pressure
• Ability to manage and advise various stakeholders within the environment of local government.

Legal Advisor

Requirements:
