LEGAL ADVISOR/SENIOR/PRINCIPAL
BASIC SALARY: R417 967 PER ANNUM; TCOE: SALARY COMMENCING FROM R840 607 PER ANNUM AND TCOE: SALARY COMMENCING FROM R1 026 140 PER ANNUM • REF NO: CM 05/21

Principal Legal Advisor
Requirements:
- A relevant Law degree with admission as an Attorney or Advocate (passed bar exam)
- Minimum five (5) years’ proven post-admission experience in a senior position and legal environment
- Proven drafting experience
- Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
- Understanding of legislation and case law relating to Constitutional and Administrative Law, Interpretation of Statutes and other areas of the South African law applicable to the public sector
- Comprehensive knowledge of Council’s functions and systems and corporate governance principles
- The incumbent may be expected to work overtime and under pressure and must be available in cases of emergencies
- Managing staff of subcomponent and related administration processes
- Directing and managing quality of work delivered by staff
- Computer literacy (Microsoft office)
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence.
Senior Legal Advisor
Requirements:
- LLB
- Admitted attorney or advocate [passed bar exam]
- At least two (2) years’ minimum post-admission experience in a senior position and relevant legal environment
- Understanding of local government legislation, policies and procedures
- Valid Code EB driver’s licence
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks, with minimum supervision
- Ability to diligently work on high volumes of work under considerable pressure
- Ability to manage and advise various stakeholders within the environment of local government.
Legal Advisor
