ROAD CONSTRUCTION • (4 POSTS AVAILABLE IN PAARL)

Job purpose: To deliver and perform road maintenance service in Cape Winelands (DRE: Paarl). These four posts are for specialised fields of an excavator, front-end loader, mechanical broom and roller and is stationed in Paarl.
Requirements: Grade 10 (Junior Certificate or equivalent qualification) • A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in operating an excavator, front-end loader, mechanical broom or roller in a concrete construction plant • A valid Code EC/EC1 driving licence with a valid PDP.
Recommendation: Experience in operation in construction plant.
Key performance areas: Asset management clerical support • demand and acquisition clerical support • Logistical support services • Other administrative duties • Ensure safety of road users • Ensure speed signs are correctly placed • Evaluate road and surrounding areas to determine tasks to be performed • Physical inspection of roads • Preparation of road surfaces • Determine quantity material needed and unloading thereof per determined distances • Repair and maintain roads • Gravel shoulders and waterways • Operating of various types of construction plant • Supervision of labourers to ensure effective management and utilisation of labourers.
Competencies: A good understanding of the following: Operation of construction plants • General road maintenance • Communication skills • Ability to work under pressurised circumstances and meet deadlines • Ability to deal with diversity • Self-motivated • Able to work in a team.
