Planning Officer



The Richmond Municipality hereby invites suitably qualified applicants to apply for the following permanent position:


Salary: R194 823.24 -R252 911.76 p.a. (Task Level 10)

Requirements: • Grade 12 Senior Certificate • Appropriate 3 year Degree or Diploma in Town Planning/Town and Regional Planning • Registration with South African Council for Planners as a Technical Planner or in a process to register • At least 2 – 3 years’ relevant experience • Good communication skills (preferably in English and IsiZulu) • A valid driver’s licence Code B.

Key performance areas: • Coordinate report and advice on development planning issues • Implement Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (SPLUMA) • Assess statutory and development application: land use management • Provide professional and technical advice on development planning; undertake the coordination of all spatial planning within the municipal area • Facilitate the formulation and review of sector plans, i.e. land use management, spatial development framework and housing sector plans • Provide input for the preparation, implementation and monitoring of Municipal IDP • Assess compliance with specific town planning regulations and undertake site inspections to ensure compliance with developments.
