Parliament is elected to represent the people, ensure government by the people under the Constitution and to represent the provinces under the national sphere of government. The following opportunity exists at Parliament:


Remuneration package: R1 521 591 per annum

The Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration as required by the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa (1996), chapter 10, section 196 (9) and (10) hereby invites applications from candidates for appointment by the President, to the Public Service Commission to serve as a Commissioner.

Requirements: In terms of section 196(10) of the Constitution, a commissioner is appointed for a term of five years, which is renewable for one additional term only, and must be a woman or a man who is:

  • (a) a South African citizen; and
  • (b) a fit and proper person with knowledge of, or experience in, administration, management or the provision of
    public services

Please note that in terms of the PSC Act, 1997, section 6(b) “A commissioner shall not hold office in any political party or political organisation”. Short-listed candidates will be subjected to security vetting and verification of qualifications.
