SENIOR PROFESSIONAL OFFICER

TCOE SALARY COMMENCING FROM R840 607 PER ANNUM • REF NO: WS 188/21

 Requirements:

  • BSc Eng/BEng/ BTech in Civil Water Engineering
  • Eligible for professional registration with Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
  • Registration with ECSA will be an added advantage
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in the technical and civil engineering field of water and sanitation
  • Proven supervisory skills
  • Valid Code B driver’s license
  • MS Project, AutoCAD and computer skills (MS Office).

Key performance areas:

  • Providing high-level input on pipeline systems and associated infrastructure for effective initiation and application of maintenance improvement strategies
  • Providing technological advancement initiatives to manage the Integrated Asset Management Programme of the Branch
  • Identifying, defining and undertaking immediate, short- and long-term planning associated with water and sewer infrastructure and project implementation
  • Researching and designing new and extensions to the reticulation networks as well as maintenance related projects
  • Compiling specifications for projects for the provision of essential water and sanitation services in compliance with national and local legislation, South African National Standards (SANS) and Council specifications and policies
  • Taking part in preparing bid documents for professional providers and contractors in accordance with supply chain management policy
  • Ensuring water supply and sewer conveyance is sustained
  • Preparing and approving water and sewer reticulation designs
  • Ensuring correct and efficient written communication with internal and external parties/stakeholders and the safekeeping of documentation
  • Supervising, guiding, managing and training subordinates under his/her control
  • Managing the productivity and performance of personnel, providing guidance and inculcating discipline.
  • Reporting accurate management information for improved decision-making.
