TRANSPORT • ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE AND MANAGEMENT

SENIOR PROFESSIONAL OFFICER (CIVIL ENGINEER)

TCOE SALARY: COMMENCING FROM R840 607 PER ANNUM • REF NO: TRA 30/20

Requirements: • A degree or National Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering • At least five (5) to eight (8) years’ appropriate post-qualification experience in rehabilitation, maintenance, construction design and management of roads and related infrastructure, especially stormwater in a municipal urban environment of which at least two (2) years must have been in management of professional staff • Knowledge of asphalt application, production and/or testing will be advantageous • Experience in the road materials engineering fi eld will be advantageous • A Code B driver’s licence • Willingness to work after hours, including weekends when required • 24/7 availability via on cell phone.

Key performance areas: • Providing the technical framework to Transport (TRA) technical and professional staff, as well as engineering consultants and contractors, engaged in rehabilitation, maintenance, construction design, and management of roads • Training of TRA staff to interpret test results on materials and workmanship • Convening and/or facilitating panel inspections of metro and/or local roads • Compilation and management of remedial treatment projects • Facilitating remedial treatment programme implementation in TRA districts • Providing technical input into term tenders for goods and services including CIDB, professional and non CIDB (eg testing by commercial laboratories) • Compiling procedure manuals and checklists • Conducting research and development of materials methods and methodologies • Devising, populating and maintaining systems for recording interventions and unit rates.
