Senior Researcher: Biodiversity Development Specialist (One post)
Qualification and requirements:
• Ph.D. in plant protection, with an emphasis being in nematology • At least five (05) years working experience on bio-economy related projects • Evidence of postgraduate supervision and at least 15 research publications in DHETaccredited journals, • Ability to successfully obtain research funding, involvement in community outreach and collaborations//partnerships. • Ability to teach any plant protection allocated modules at postgraduate levels • NRF rating or having initiated the rating process shall give the candidate a competitive advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to • Research and develops technologies with an emphasis on Biodiversity Economy Strategy with special reference to nematode-plant relations in the context of climate-smart agriculture. • The candidate shall be expected to actively teach postgraduate modules, supervise postgraduate students and postdoctoral students • Assist in fund-raising for research facilities, equipment, and student support, improve research outputs and strengthen community engagement, along with initiating win-win local, national, regional and international collaborations/partnerships • Undertake community outreach activities as part of the University mandate • Perform any other duties/responsibilities that may be assigned by the Head of Department or Centre Manager.
