Requirements: Minimum educational qualification: General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)/Grade 9 (Std 7). Experience: Appropriate experience. Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work shifts including weekend, public holidays and night duty. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape • Good interpersonal relations skills • Ability to work in a co-operative way within a team context.
Duties (key result areas/outputs): Effective application of sterilisation processes and techniques and promote/adhere to infection control as well as health and safety regulations • Decontamination, packing and sterilisation of instruments linen and supplies • Assist with cleaning and testing of sterilisation equipment, washing machine and autoclaves • Maintain equipment in an optimum working condition and utilisation of resources • Use autoclaves, washing machines and equipment/consumables in a cost effective manner • Monitor, control and maintain adequate stock levels • Report and assist with investigation of lost instruments/equipment.
