Manager: Child and Youth Care Quality Assurance
Durbanville Children’s Home, a program of BADISA, has the above-mentioned vacancy:
We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a large dynamic group of Child and Youth Care Workers.
This person should meet all the following requirements: • An in depth understanding of best practices in the field of child and youth care and children’s physical and mental health with special emphasis on separation, loss and attachment issues • Sound knowledge of the Children’s Act; norms and standards and other relevant legislation with regard to child and youth care • Demonstrated and signi cant frontline experience in working with children/youth and families • The ability to exercise mature and professional judgement in con ict and stressful situations • Demonstrate strong administration skills which include report writing; excellent communication skills in both English and Afrikaans and strong organising, evaluating and problem-solving skills • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to work flexible hours as required by a 24-hour operating organisation.
Main Responsibilities: Quality Assurance: • Draft quality assurance policies and procedures within child and youth care standards and ensure the implementation of these standards by all child and youth care workers • Undertake and document internal audits on child and youth care quality assurance activities; evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions • Assist in the investigation of consumer complaints and non-conformance issues • Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions of child and youth care staff • Identify training needs and organise training interventions to meet quality standards • Assure ongoing compliance with quality, legislation and regulatory requirements. Staff Support: • Support and maintain an experienced team of child and youth care workers that promotes the Durbanville Children’s Home standards • Provide regular supervision and ensure regular debriefing sessions are offered to child and youth care workers • Plan; organise and assign duties and placements of child and youth care workers according to worker competence and client needs • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback on an on-going basis.
