Department: Planning and Economic Development, Term of Office: Five (5) Years Fixed Term Contract, Remuneration
Package: Negotiable, Post Level: Fixed Term
Minimum qualification requirements:
B Degree in Economics OR equivalent in the fields of International Trade Relations, or
related International Development Fields (a Master’s Degree will be an added advantage).
Experience requirements:
Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in trade and investment facilitation, with at
least three (03) years’ experience in a Senior Management position; • Familiarity with global trade/ investment treaties and cross-
border investment facilitation in Southern Africa; • Previous experience in providing investment facilitation support; • Strong
client orientation with commitment to results on the ground; • Strong operational experience and ability to contribute to strategic
thinking and to integrate strategies and policies into district’s programmes /projects; • Strong writing skills and a proven ability
to conduct research and produce analytical reports
Develop and implement targeted programmes and projects to support investment promotion and trade
promotion agencies, working in collaboration with financial and private sectors. • Design and implement collaborative project
partnerships on trade and investment promotion with sister districts in the province and neighbouring provinces. • Support district
and local municipalities in implementing their programmes on investment promotion. This includes support for institutional
strengthening of investment promotion agencies, regulatory reforms to facilitate investment and programmes specifically targeting
the investment facilitation for the private sector. • Support national government’s work on targeting promotion of investments
into the district from specific markets in order to promote trade, Contribute to the district’s knowledge base on investment
facilitation, best practices and new developments in the area. • Mobilise resources within and outside the district municipality for
technical assistance activities to support investment facilitation. • Proactively meet district, provincial and international companies
to understand business opportunities in the respective markets. • Provide marketing support to the team liaising with the dti’s
marketing hubs worldwide. • Support the district’s businesses and respond to the dti enquiries.
