CALL FOR NOMINATIONS AND APPLICATIONS FOR FIVE PERSONS TO SERVE ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE HARRY GWALA DEVELOPMENT AGENCY

Introduction: The Harry Gwala District Municipality invites nominations and applications from experienced individuals with high expertise to serve on the Board of Directors of Harry Gwala Development Agency which was established in 2012 in terms of Chapter 10, Section 84 of the Local Government: Municipal Finance Management Act, No. 56 of 2003. The term of office for Board of Directors will be for a minimum period of three years effective from the01 May 2019. Only suitably qualified external professionals shall serve in the Development Agency.

Requirements and qualifications to serve as Directors of the Board: • Individuals must possess a Bachelor’s Degree, knowledge and expertise at least in one of the following: Business and Financial Management, Accounting, Auditing, Law, Performance Management, Risk Management, Information and Communication Technology, Project Management and Corporate Governance • Must possess strong and dynamic leadership skills • Must have a sound knowledge of legislation applicable to Local Government • Must have analytical reasoning ability • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills • Be citizens and ordinarily reside in the Republic of South Africa and be representative of race, gender and geographic composition of the Republic.

Nomination process and submission requirements: Nominations and applications must be submitted to the District Municipality and contain at least the following: • A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) of the applicant indicating qualifications and experience • A motivational letter or report indicating why the applicant or nominee should be considered as a suitable person to occupy the position of a Board member • A declaration of Intent of Commitment and no conflict of interest in terms of working with, or providing services to, the District Municipality • The attention of prospective applicants is drawn to the stipulations of the Local Government: Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, with special reference to Sections 93E and 93F which preclude certain persons from serving on the Board of a Municipal Entity • Employees of any government institution or related organisation may not be appointed as Directors of a municipal entity.

Nomination and application process: Nomination forms will be made available from the 29 March 2019 at the District Municipal Offices, Reception Desk: 40 Main Street, IXOPO, 3276 and on our website at www.harrygwaladm.gov.za.

All nominees will be required to fill in the prescribed nomination form in upper case and use Black Ink. All the required documentation must be sent to the address indicated below not later than the 10 April 2019 at 14h00.
