NOTICE OF A PROCESS TO ELECT TRUSTEES TO
THE GEMS BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS) is registered in terms of the Medical Schemes Act, 1998 as a restricted membership medical scheme for public service employees, pensioners who retired from the public service and employees, pensioners who retired from the public service as well as employees and pensioners of employers approved by the Board of Trustees. Notice is hereby given of a process to elect three (3) Trustees to the GEMS Board of Trustees to be conducted between April and July 2019. In accordance with the Rules of GEMS, the election process is independently managed by The Elexions Agency (Pty) Ltd.
CANDIDATE NOMINATION
Principal Members of GEMS who are registered and in good standing on 01 April 2019 are invited to participate in the election of three (3) trustees. The nomination of candidates wishing to stand for election must be supported by fifty (50) other active principal members.Nomination packs with Nomination Forms have been dispatched to all Principal Members. These packs are also available on the GEMS website: www.gems.gov.za, The Elexions Agency Offices on 010 880-4788 or by email at elections@gems.gov.za.Candidate nominations must be submitted using the prescribed nomination form and must reach The Elexions Agency Returning Officer on or before 17h00 on 08 May 2019. Nominations received by the Returning Officer after the deadline will be invalid.Nomination forms must be marked for the attention of: The Returning Officer, GEMS 2019 Board of Trustee Elections and may be returned through any of the following methods:

VOTING
Voting for the qualifying candidates will be conducted between 21 May and 20 July 2018. Detailed information on the voting rules and procedure will be communicated to all nearer to the commencement date of the voting process.
